Internet On Your Phone, Without GPRS - Shorthand Mobile Application

Facebook, Google, Twitter…. the companies we’re connected to online are practically essential for staying in touch and getting things done. If you want to see your Facebook updates, Twitter tweets etc. on your mobile, you will simply go to the opera mini browser or Facebook mobile application. Otherwise simply you may use your mobile phone default browser. All these requires a data plan or GPRS connection. If you don’t have GPRS data on your mobile, it is difficult to see updates from Facebook and twitter etc. But, here is the simple and most effective mobile application Shorthand, which works without any data plan or GPRS connection. Yes, Its true. Facebook updates, Twitter tweets, MapQuest directions... They're all work with your texting plan(SMS Plan). No data plan required!

Simply, If you can text, then you can FACEBOOK MOBILE, TWITTER, FACEBOOK CHAT, GOOGLE SMS, NETFLIX, ESPN, THE NEWYORK TIMES, CRIC BUZZ and many more.

Shorthand Mobile Application:

Shorthand bundles all of your favorite web content into one super simple, easy-to-use mobile application. You pick the content you want (called as TextApps), then scroll-and-click your way from CNN to Zillow. Once you download Shorthand it uses your SMS text messaging plan to connect you to the web content you want.

shorthand

All of your favorites

With Shorthand, you can get weather forecasts from Google in 2 clicks, 5-star local restaurants from Citysearch in 5 clicks and your friend's Facebook updates in 3 clicks. It's just that simple.

What Makes Different? SMS and Short Codes

Shorthand TextApps send and receive information using SMS, also known as text messaging. Many text-messaging services are available today even without Shorthand, including Facebook and Google. What’s awesome about Shorthand is that you don’t have to remember or type any short codes or keywords! In fact, Shorthand adds extra functionality that’s not available over regular SMS. Simply scroll-and-click through a quick, intuitive menu and you've got exactly what you want.

short hand2

Is it really free?

Yes, it’s true that we don’t charge you anything for the Shorthand.

Because Shorthand works with text messaging, standard messaging rates will apply based on the text plan you have with your carrier. What this means is that the messages used to update Facebook, get directions from MapQuest, update your Netflix queue, etc. will count towards your regular text messaging plan. To help you track how many messages you're sending and receiving, you can see message counter right into the Shorthand. To access the message counter from Shorthand's main menu select Options -> Message Counter.

Do I need a Data Plan?

Shorthand's TextApps use your text messaging plan and do not require a data plan.

However, downloading the Shorthand software the first time does use the data channel. If you don’t have a data plan, getting Shorthand on your phone will incur a one-time charge from the operator on your pay-as-you-go data rates.

One of the great things about Shorthand is that they are always adding new TextApps.

Why are you waiting, CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE SHORTHAND APPLICATION, click download and enter required fields.

Note: Downloading Shorthand and TextApps to your phone the first time will use the data channel. Adding new TextApps and updates will also use the data channel. Standard data rates apply.

Say Bye Bye To Train Ticket Printouts, Use VRM

Indian Railways takes a step ahead towards the next level of customer satisfaction. Government owned IRCTC is one of the most visited travel booking sites in the country. The Corporation has announced that passengers from now on need not print (ERS or Electronic reservation slip or e-ticket) the reservation ticket and carry with them.  It has launched virtual tickets with the Virtual Reservation Message (VRM).

Clipboard0121

Virtual Reservation Message (VRM) - A screen-shot of the e-ticket displayed through laptops/palmtops/ Mobile phone is referred as Virtual Reservation Message (VRM). VRM along with any one of the eight prescribed ID proofs in original and the indication of the passenger(s)' name(s) in the Reservation Chart will authorize the passenger to travel.

VRM combined with valid photo-id in original will be treated as an instrument on par with the ERS.

e-ticket-2

VRM along with one of the eight prescribed proofs of identity in original will also authorize the passenger to enter the platform on the day of journey and he/she will not be required to purchase platform ticket. VRM along with original id proof will be required to be produced on demand of Ticket Checking Staff on the platform.

VRM is going to become a revolutionary step in Indian Railways History.

With this we can save so many papers, if everyone produces their ticket in e-format. IRCTC has reported 13.2 million online rail ticket transactions for August 2011 although only 75.93% were  successful transactions. So in one month 13.2 million printouts, so think such a huge figure in wastage of paper.

So Say Bye Bye To Train Ticket Printouts, Use VRM now onwards.

Note: Keep your mobile/laptop/palmtop battery full. Because you have to show VRM for your entire journey. Sometimes you have to show to the TC if he asks, who is at the exit of your destiny railway station.

The S60 Platform (formerly Series 60 User Interface) is a software platform for mobile phones that runs on Symbian OS. In S60v3, a user may install only programs that have a certificate from a registered developer, unless the user disables that feature or modify the phone's firmware through third-party hacks that circumvent the mandatory signing restrictions. This makes software written for S60 1st Edition or 2nd Edition not binary-compatible with S60v3.

S60 5th Edition
In October 2008, S60 5th Edition was launched. (Nokia decided to move from 3rd Edition directly to 5th Edition "as a polite gesture to Asian customers" because the number four means bad luck in some Asian cultures). S60 5th Edition runs on Symbian OS version 9.4.The major feature of 5th Edition is support for high-resolution 640×360 touchscreens; before 5th Edition, all S60 devices had a button-based user interface. S60 5th Edition also integrates standard C/C++ APIs and includes Adobe Flash Lite 3.0 with S60-specific ActionScript extensions that give Flash Lite developers access to phone features like contacts, text messaging, sensors and device location information (GPS).
The S60 5th Edition is the last edition of S60. Its assets along with Symbian OS, UIQ and MOAP(S) have been used as a base for Symbian, an open source operating system being developed by the Symbian Foundation. The first edition of Symbian, Symbian^1, uses S60 5th Edition on top of Symbian OS 9.4 as its base.
